Ask An Exec

Chief Customer Officer Margaret Maljkovic

Q: Can we ask an Executive just what are the most important two or three legal requirements for tenants, just to remind us, as we get on with life. – Penrith 2750

MM: Thank you for this important and interesting question.

Tenants receive a lot of information regarding their tenancy agreement and responsibilities. When you have your lease signing appointment, there are a number of factsheets and forms we include in the sign-up folder that each new tenant receives at the start of the tenancy.

We also do Welcome Visits to all new tenants at the 6–8-week mark so we can see if you are experiencing any challenges in your new home, and go over the information given during the sign up process.

And yes – this is a lot of information! So, I appreciate you asking this ‘fill in the gaps’ question, as a reminder of the key things all residents need to keep top of mind.

Three important things in terms of your tenancy obligations include:

· Maintaining rental and other payments

· Being a good neighbour

· Working with us in terms of property care including:

  • Reporting maintenance issues as soon as they occur
  • Providing access to undertake repairs
  • Looking after the property

These are based in the tenant obligations that are part of your Residential Tenancy Agreement.

The other important thing that I would like all Link Wentworth residents to note is this:

We are a Community Housing Provider, and we care about our tenants. If you are experiencing difficulties – whether it is rental payments, you or someone you are concerned about need help, you need assistance looking after your property or anything else – please get in touch with us. As well as the services we provide, we are linked to a whole range of support services that can help to find a way forward. Please don’t wait to reach out.
