Q • I have a small phone with limited data and it is not good for doing activities such as completing surveys or reading long emails. These use up all my data and I prefer not to receive them at all. I also don’t like to receive SMS messages about my tenancy, or events or whatever. I find it intrusive. How can I stop these unwanted messages from Link Wentworth?
• Thank you for this excellent question I know there are many different messages that residents receive from Link Wentworth – including tenancy information, invitations to take part in programs or events, and publications, such as this newsletter.
With such a volume of different types of information to convey, we try to use channels for sending messages that ensure important information is received, and any response comes through easily and quickly.
At the same time, every one of our residents has a unique set of circumstances. As well as the examples you give, there are many people who don’t read on any computer, or whose first language is not English. We want to make sure that our communications are sent in a way that accommodates our residents’ circumstances and preferences.
For some of our communications, such as anything to do with your tenancy or rent, there is a legal requirement that we send it through by mail. However, for other messages, where your response or engagement is optional, you have the option to request how you are communicated with, or to stop receiving them.
For messages that are sent by SMS and email, you can let us know that you do not want to be contacted in this way by replying ‘Opt out’ directly to the SMS or email.
If you have any specific requests about ourcommunications, you can also let us know by emailing communications@ linkwentworth.org.au
Communications preferences and databases are always changing. For this reason, we plan to survey all residents in 2025 to find out more about the ways our communications are working and how we can do this better.
