We welcome three new members of staff who have joined the Link Wentworth Development Team in recent months. Each shares a bit about themselves, their strengths, their aspirations and outlooks.
Nicole Woodrow – Chief Growth and Innovation Officer
In August, I was appointed Chief Growth and Innovation Officer with Link Wentworth. Mine is a new role, reflective of the current transitioning nature of the sector and the focus by government and the community on housing. It is an exciting opportunity.
My background is firmly within the development sector, my career is in planning, housing and development. I have two strong interests in housing – the first is addressing the levers necessary to provide more social and affordable housing and advocating for that from the CHP perspective. Secondly and in support of this, introducing new housing typologies that provide housing choice and of course, affordability.
The question, for me, is: how can we challenge the status quo to make the change we need? Growth and Innovation is such a good title for the challenge ahead. There are many competing voices in this space, influencing government and policy makers on build-to-rent, affordable and social housing. I hope we can make a difference and be clear about the reform, priority, and commitment needed – and then deliver more homes and the necessary services to support those in need and our community.
Since arriving at Link Wentworth, I have been overwhelmed by the genuine warmth, compassion, sense of shared purpose and commitment of staff to the work we do and the difference it makes. This spirit was very evident at the End of Year Christmas party. I saw thehappiness and surprise of people receiving their awards – but even more so, the genuine delight of the recipients’ colleagues. That support and delight seem to be an intrinsic part of Link Wentworth, and a core ingredient as to how we make a difference.
Jennifer Husman, Development Project Manager
My professional journey led me to Australia in 2010, where I transitioned from the US and evolved from an interior designer to a registered architect. My passion for crafting purposeful spaces for older demographics drew me to large, complex mixed-use projects that seamlessly integrate retirement living and aged care into expansive urban precincts.
With housing affordability emerging as a significant challenge in Australia, I believe we are at an exciting juncture in the industry, with a heightened global focus on addressing this crisis through governmental, non-profit, and private sector initiatives.
As a mother of two young children, the issue of unaffordability has taken on a deeply personal dimension. I am acutely aware of the challenges many face while striving to provide for their families amidst rising costs. This newfound perspective has fuelled my commitment to contribute meaningfully to the solution.
In my new role as Development Manager at Link Wentworth, I am enthusiastic about immersing myself in diverse projects. From navigating development and planning approvals to witnessing the physical manifestation of our plans during on-site construction, I am eager to play a pivotal role in bringing about positive change.
Amber Greenhalgh – Development Project Manager
I have a passion for early planning, and for creating places that intuitively influence and impact the ways in which people live and interact with one another.
Having recently joined Link Wentworth, I want to develop and deliver meaningful projects that have a greater impact on the community, and that help to alleviate the pressure of the housing crisis and deliver more homes for those in need.
My professional background has been in property development for many years, initially planning and developing high-density residential projects with a private developer, then expanding and diversifying sectors, at UNSW, gaining experience in education, commercial, retail and student accommodation, and delivering their major and strategic projects on campus.
I am looking forward to collaborating with various stakeholders, and aligning strategic and government initiatives, to deliver cost-effective housing outcomes in an innovative and socially responsible way.
