The October 2024 meeting of the Tenant Advisory Group (TAG) had another packed and diverse agenda.
More than 20 residents attended. at the Parramatta Club. and lunch was provided afterwards. The TAG members are also looking forward to a celebratory Christmas lunch in December. Presentations were delivered by staff from a number of areas. The highlights of the meeting were as follow:
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; Toni Joseph, Sector Capacity Specialist, gave an update on the growth and impact of the Community Support Hubs. So far, they have helped around 1,500 people in Penrith, the Hawkesbury and the Blue Mountains.
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; Carolyn Stewart, Leasehold Manager, broke down some of the complexities and challenges faced by her Team, driven by the pressure on the current rental
market Link Wentworth is currently making changes to the quota of properties we lease from private owners, due to escalating costs in the housing market
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; Suzanne Sheerin, Team Leader for Community Programs, gave a presentation on the Neighbourhood Improvement Program: 20 neighbourhoods have been identified for targeted support, including additional support for vulnerable residents, improvements to properties and environment, and increased safety. This is an organisation wide initiative which includes multiple teams and partners in the community.
Also mentioned were the large increase in submissions for the Scholarship Program and the Gardening Program, with results finalized later in the month.
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; Following on from her earlier presentation to the August 2024 meeting, Christine Hough, from the Service Delivery & Improvement Team, provided more information on Link Wentworth’s plans to simplify and standardise the policies on charging various categories of residents for water use.
• Joanne Robinson, Acting Head of Community Outcomes & Impacts, invited comments on a plan to help residents to retain their tenancies while suffering from mental illness.
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; And finally, there was a discussion led by Gethin Fisher, the Senior Brand & Strategic Communications Lead. on how Link Wentworth could help residents to prepare for their later years and to deal with bereavement.
All residents should take an interest in the work of their Tenant Advisory Group and consider joining it in 2025. It provides genuine opportunities to participate and learn more about what Link Wentworth does and give your feedback on services, policies and procedures.
