Green light for affordable housing in Sydney’s North West

Link Wentworth is delighted that Lachlan’s Line, our affordable housing development, has been approved by the . The development will provide 135 much-needed new homes and address the urgent need for more affordable housing, especially for key workers in the .

In February 2024, Landcom, in partnership with Link Wentworth, lodged a State Significant Development Application for Lachlan’s Line at Macquarie Park with the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure to build 100 per cent affordable housing dwellings. The approval on 21 October, marks a positive step forward in addressing the housing needs of people in Sydney’s north west.

We congratulate the Premier and the Planning Minister, on introducing planning reforms and their government’s commitment to providing practical solutions to address the housing crisis. With approvals secured, Link Wentworth is eager to commence work on the 135 affordable homes in Sydney’s north-west in 2025/26.

The ongoing cost of living and housing shortage crises continues to put pressure on individuals in and around Sydney. This development will help provide much-needed relief for key workers struggling to find an affordable place to live. The additional 135 homes for people facing housing stress will give residents the chance to live and work in the local area.

Perfectly located in the North Ryde Station Precinct, Lachlan’s Line is close to two metro stations, a bus interchange, and the M2 Motorway. We can’t wait to bring this project to life and provide much-needed safe, secure and affordable homes.
