As the housing and cost of living crises continue, 100 former and current residents, staff, volunteers, partners, and support workers will gather to celebrate Link Wentworth’s 40 years of providing social and affordable housing across Sydney, including in the Blue Mountains.
Not-for-profit Link Wentworth manages around 6,400 homes across Sydney, including almost 600 homes in the Blue Mountains. The properties include social housing, transitional housing, and crisis accommodation.
“Social and affordable housing is more important than ever as the cost of living and housing crises continue to pressure individuals and families,” Link Wentworth CEO Andrew McAnulty said.
“Link Wentworth is committed to working with local, state and federal governments, and the private sector, to make sure we secure funding for new and much-needed housing in and around the Blue Mountains. Now is the time to build upon our history, and work with partners to do more.”
Mr McAnulty said Link Wentworth was proud to be part of the Blue Mountains community.
“Our Katoomba Community Support Hub brings together 40 providers once every month so those facing housing stress and homelessness can access the services they need in a ‘one stop support shop’. It’s an innovative and trauma-informed approach, breaking down barriers for people who have traditionally struggled to access key services,” he said.
“Our local Specialist ǿƵlessness Services include domestic and family violence support, tenancy support, assertive outreach, and case management.”
Mr McAnulty said Link Wentworth was continuing to invest in the region, including renovating homes.
“We recently replaced the roof of a five-building complex in Katoomba. This was a huge and expensive undertaking and shows our commitment to providing a safe and pleasant place to live for residents who call these buildings home,” he said.
“We also regularly host ‘Drop-In Sessions’ where residents can come by to ask Link Wentworth staff questions; and every year, we host an End-of-Year Party for local residents to celebrate the festive season.”
