Seventy former and current residents, staff, volunteers, partners, and support workers will gather to celebrate Link Wentworth’s 40 years of providing social and affordable housing across Sydney, including on the Northern Beaches.
The Northern Beaches was home to one of the State’s earliest tenancy schemes in the early 1980’s, and now Link Wentworth manages more than 6,400 homes across Sydney, including over 350 homes on the Northen Beaches. These properties include social and affordable housing, specialist disability accommodation, and crisis accommodation.
“Social and affordable housing is more important than ever as the cost of living and housing crises continue to pressure individuals and families,” Link Wentworth CEO Andrew McAnulty said.
“Link Wentworth is committed to working with local, state and federal governments, and the private sector, to make sure we secure funding for new and much-needed housing in and around the Northern Beaches. Now is the time to build upon our history, and work with partners to do more.
“To address the need to provide better services for local residents facing housing stress and homelessness, Link Wentworth has partnered with Landcom to turn the Queenscliff Community Health Centre into housing, with 37 homes comprising studio apartments, one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments, expected to be completed in June 2026.
“A minimum of 12 of these homes will be available for local women over the age of 55 at risk of homelessness.”
A not-for-profit, Link Wentworth has held its biennial fundraising ‘sleep out’ at the Freshwater Surf Lifesaving Club since 2017. The night has raised funds for the Burdekin Association and Women’s Community Shelters together with Link Wentworth’s tenant scholarship program.
“We also run regular gardening workshops for our Northern Beaches residents with our partner Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, which are hugely popular and create a wonderful sense of community,” Mr McAnulty said.
Link Wentworth is one of Australia’s largest providers of safe, secure, and affordable housing. Media is invited to attend the 40-year celebration and conduct interviews.
